Everybody is thinking green these days. But green is not just an environmental state of mind, it is a healthier state of being. It is the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the structures we live and work in. It is not the dollars that we are spending, but how we spend those dollars. Are we consciously making informed decisions? Join host Connie McCullah as she explores Living Green…Healthier Living by Choice.
Living Green…Healthier Living By Choice broadcasts Thursday afternoons at 2 PM Pacific, 5 PM Eastern on the 7th Wave Network. Tune in for the challenge of a lifetime – a challenge for greener, healthier living!

NARI Green Award
November 12, 2007
Each year, the Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry bestows its Remmie awards to outstanding remodeling projects. This year, Odin's Hammer received the second place prize in the Green Building category. The award was given for the remodel of an in-law unit at the Kreisberg residence in the Berkeley Hills. This remodel took a 500 square foot dark and moldy space and turned into 625 square feet of daylight living space with another 460 square feet of outdoor patio space. Green features include: passive solar design, spray foam insulation, an insulated foundation, hydronic radiant heat, tankless water heater, low flow toilet, all energy star appliances, and double pane, low-e windows.
Alliance Goes Green
December 2007
Dennis and Connie have undertaken a “green historic rehabilitation” project in their home town of Alliance, NE. The acquisition of four century old buildings in the Historic Commercial District is the first step. By drawing on the architectural character of these buildings, historic and cultural legacies of the community we can reflect to the global community the unique assets of traditional neighborhood life and the exceptional beauty of the Sandhills eco-system.
Our goal is to preserve the cultural and historic legacy of this district. Generate business, economic growth and employment opportunities that are sustainable into the future. Rehabilitate these buildings with renewable energy mechanisms that do not pollute the environment, have above average value and do not harm the occupants’ health. Promote the quality of life, community living, public schools that work, lower cost of living, and a sense of being one of the people who make America unique and great.

Build it Green Award
2006
Build It Green Home Tour, Berkeley, CA
Best Small Home Renovation
Alameda & Contra Costa Counties
The Kreisberg project (Nari Green Award) was featured on Build it Green's Green Home Tour in 2006. This remodel was awarded the Best Small Home Renovation for 2006. This renovation was green from start to finish; all excavated top soil was saved and reused, native vegetation was planted and watered with drip irrigation, the stone came from local quarries, and the concrete contained 50% fly ash. Inside you'll find cork flooring, urban salvage maple cabinets, LED lighting, and a photovoltaic system with a special viewing area on Mendocino Path to educate the public on what a PV system is and how much power the home is generating.
